How Aardman shaped their employee ownership future.
Derek Walker, CEO of The Wales Co-Operative Centre hosted a very informative and inspiring breakfast briefing as part of an executive education webinar run by Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University.
Derek interviewed David Sproxton, Co-founder and trustee of Aardman Animations, the Bristol based company famed for Morph, Wallace and Gromit and of course many other characters, tv programmes and films.
Derek was able to pick the brains of David, who opened up about the challenges they went through as they transitioned into employee ownership. Having started in 1972 it was in 2018 that David and Peter his co-founder announced they were selling the company to the workforce.
Listen to David talk about the challenges Aardman Aninmations faced and his personal experience of the processes the company went through. David also gave a great insight into why and how the company put its employees at the heart of decision making.
